Seen on the street - Friday 26th

From early Friday morning the streets thronged with riders, and the bikes roared into town to meet up with H.O.G. friends from around the country. The weather was perfect and a full moon lit up the beach stage for the evening entertainment. Bill Davidson met up with local enthusiasts who celebrated H-D's 110th Anniversary.

Brand new riders at Africa Bike Week 2013

Over 100 new riders learned to ride a Harley-Davidson for the first time at Africa Bike Week 2013! This was a "test-run" for H-D's new Learn-to-Ride academy.

45 were pillion riders
12 have never been on a bike

Africa Bike Week 2013 - Mass ride

A thundering 3 242 bikes took part in the Mass ride from Shelly Centre to Margate via a scenic drive through several KwaZulu Natal coastal towns. There were bikes of every size, shape and colour imaginable, with acres of chrome, all polished to within an inch of their lives, brought there by riders from every part of Southern Africa. The sky's the limit for ABW 2013

Steve at Airserv Aerial Photograph flew down south to the biggest annual gathering of motor cycles in S.A. "We had the privilege of taking in the massed ride from an aerial perspective and Oh my Soul! This must be the closest that KZN gets to staging a dinkum mardi gras, with the marquees, bunting, flags, banners and a 24/7 party. The photos were undertaken in the most idyllic flying weather I have experienced in years. Everything was just right." See the photos

Africa Bike Week 2011

At the annual Harley-Davidson® Africa Bike Week, 180 000 motorcycling enthusiasts, families and HOG members including 20 000 plus motorcyclists, descended on the well-known tourism holiday town of Margate.

The third Harley-Davidson® Africa Bike Week which took place from Thursday, 28 April to Sunday 1 May is renowned for being the largest Harley-Davidson® motorcycle festival in the Southern Hemisphere attracting both young and old to experience the ultimate Harley-Davidson® lifestyle.

“We are extremely proud to be associated with a festival of this nature and to give back to the motorcycle community by offering a top notch experience which is free and is suitable for the whole family,” says Michael Carney, Marketing Manager Harley-Davidson® Africa.

"The Africa Bike Week™ team arrived in Margate on the Sunday before Easter only to find that, amongst all the 1000's of holiday makers, the stage was being erected, tent framework and dozens of essential infrastructure contract were well under way – the holiday makers seemingly unaware of the goings 'on. Such was the professionalism of the contractors."
