Seen on the street - Friday 26th

From early Friday morning the streets thronged with riders, and the bikes roared into town to meet up with H.O.G. friends from around the country. The weather was perfect and a full moon lit up the beach stage for the evening entertainment. Bill Davidson met up with local enthusiasts who celebrated H-D's 110th Anniversary.

Just over 110 000 people attended the event over the 3 days, and 3 242 bikes took part in the Mass Ride from Shelly Centre to Margate....

Brand new riders at Africa Bike Week 2013

Over 100 new riders learned to ride a Harley-Davidson for the first time at Africa Bike Week 2013! This was a "test-run" for H-D's new Learn-to-Ride academy.

67 novice riders were on the K53 range
45 were pillion riders
12 have never been on a bike
10 rode a bike years ago
88 people had a go on the Jump Start

Africa Bike Week 2013 - Mass ride

A thundering 3 242 bikes took part in the Mass ride from Shelly Centre to Margate via a scenic drive through several KwaZulu Natal coastal towns. There were bikes of every size, shape and colour imaginable, with acres of chrome, all polished to within an inch of their lives, brought there by riders from every part of Southern Africa. The sky's the limit for ABW 2013

Steve at Airserv Aerial Photograph flew down south to the biggest annual gathering of motor cycles in S.A. "We had the privilege of taking in the massed ride from an aerial perspective and Oh my Soul! This must be the closest that KZN gets to staging a dinkum mardi gras, with the marquees, bunting, flags, banners and a 24/7 party. The photos were undertaken in the most idyllic flying weather I have experienced in years. Everything was just right." See the photos

Ride-In Bike Show

Meet at the designated Ride-In Bike Show Area.

Africa Bike Week™’s ride-in bike show has become the most prestigious bike-builder competition of the year. Bike owners (not only Harley-Davidson® owners) are encouraged to showcase your skills and passion for bike-building. Additionally, you can showcase your passion for your own ride, whether customised or blinged-up to your own taste as well as canvass votes for the “people’s choice” award.

Exhibitions of all categories will take place in front of the Harley-Davidson Hotel from 14h00 to 17h00 on 28 April 2013.

The bikes are to remain on display until after the prizegiving. The prize giving will be held in front of the Harley-Davidson Hotel at 17h00. Winners and runners-up in each category will be announced and presented with their trophies.

Entry forms cane be collected and submitted at the event information kiosk opposite the main stage in Beach Road.
